Sure!! I have contemplated it but my cats are very clean and do a good job in the litter box. Just move the litter box closer and closer to the toilet and then put it inside, and the cats will get used to using it. Also, there are special pans and books to help you further train them for the toilet but that’s the basics. Tons of people do this and it works great. Good luck!!!

There are plenty of people who swear by this. I am not sure I would personally try it, because both of my cats are pretty set in their ways. But I am fairly sure that they could do it.

I would only do it if I had more than one bathroom, though. I would hate to wake up in the morning and find that the cat had “missed.”

The thing I don’t like about cats is the littler box idea. Pooping and peeing in the litter and then kicking it around and burying it. Getting the germs all under their claws and then getting pissed and scratching me. I’m not a fan of cats. And that’s probably not a good thing to say in the pet section.

I tried with my first cat – only partially worked. IMO its not a good idea because you cannot monitor how much or how little they are peeing (especially for males and UTI’s) or be able to check the stool for worms, etc.

I’d stick to the litter pan for your cat’s health.

I would never do that to my cats. Cats have been doing the same thing for hundreds of years: digging and squatting. It is instinct to them–this is why many cats do not need to be litter trained at all.

If you were to force your cat to make such a drastic change, it would be like someone telling you that you can never use a toilet again. Instead you have to use a litter box. That sounds ridiculous and unreasonable, right? Well your cat would certainly feel the same way about sitting on the toilet.

My uncle had a cat that did this..it’s very cool to see. I have 4 cats in my house, and yes, i’ve honestly thought about doing this to save on the cost of cat litter!
It’s not bad for the cat at all, in fact litter can be bad for a cat, think about all the dust that goes through the air when they are scraping it around, and when we are pouring it into the litter box! Not to mention that same litter that they are walking around in that has urine and feces in it! and people wonder why i clean my carpets on a weekly basis! LOL
