How can I train a stray cat to do various tricks?

reallycreativeusername asked:

This is a stray neighborhood cat that adopted me and I trained her to come in and out of the dog door by coaxing her through with a morsel of beef. She is very affectionate and loves to spend time with me. I would like to train her to do other "tricks"; what have other people trained their cats to do, and how ? The circus trainer Gunther Gebel-Williams, who trained everything including big cats said the hardest animal to train was the house cat. This cat lives on rabbits and mice and birds. I have been yelling and stomping my feet every time she goes to sharpen her claws in the carpet and she always stops but I don't know if aversive conditioning will sink in long term. I want to train her to use a scratching post exclusively.

I think you have a very smart cat there and you are pretty smart yourself!
Try making her a post with carpet as she obviously likes it….and put some cat nip to attract her to it.
When she starts to claw the carpet, gently but firmly put her on the scratching post.
A little toy hanged from the post( with feathers, fur or a bell works best)will make it fun.
Good luck…..and Good on you!

Top Cat Training Aids Ideas…instantly.

Stick to the “carrot and stick” stuff. It obviously has some understanding of your feelings – so not as stupid as most cats. Reward it when it does what it’s supposed to do. Ignore it or find a non-cruel punishment – when it doesn’t behave the way you want. You could save a bit on your shopping bills if you can get in to bring the rabbits back in reasonable condition and find a good recipe for rabbit stew. Pigeon pie is OK too. This cat could be bloody useful! Give me 10 points – I’ve just cut you food bill by 50%.

Trust & lots of patience.
A small spray bottle filled w/water & citrus sprayed on wherever you don’t want them to be..they do not like the scent.
Or a sound that you make EVERY time he is scratching, and remove the cat from the area, he will soon associate it with your disapproval.

Untold Cat Training Secrets – We’ve uncovered all the cat training secrets for you to make it the best training ever and others envious of your planning

i also had a cat and her name was lee, very beautiful white cat with a black tail. i used to train her by fixing a stones with the thread, the thread was 7 and a half feetlong , i used to throw the thread by going far from her, then she sat down , positioning herself for the attack , she opened her claws, raisen her back and then suddenly jumped very long to reach at the rope , and when she came i arose my thread, she never gave up, she tried to jump hogh and high to catch the thread it was very exicting experience for , i laughed continously until my jews got tightened.
trick 2
got the dog , tighten the dog with chains , now bring the dog near your cat , remember there should be any place where the cat can climb , now your cat fears from the dog , then she climbed up the wall or tree , repeat the procedure this will increase the climbing speed of your cat , remember , give extra attention during such training so that the cat may not get angry from you
